Adding trellis to your garden is a fantastic way to support climbing plants, create privacy screens, or simply add a decorative touch to your fencing. However, knowing which style will best withstand the wind or how to attach it securely can be a little confusing. We’ve gathered the most common questions from our customers to help you navigate your options. Browse the FAQs below to find the perfect trellis solution for your outdoor space.
Trellis panels are mainly used for supporting climbing plants (like roses, clematis, or ivy), creating a decorative boundary, adding height to a low fence, or for screening an unsightly area (such as bins or compost piles) while allowing light and air through.
A standard trellis (often diamond or square lattice) has wider gaps and is primarily for plant support. A privacy trellis (or screening panel) typically has smaller, tighter gaps to offer more visual obstruction and seclusion.
We recommend using fence panel clips (or brackets) or galvanized screws to secure the trellis to timber posts. Ensure the screws are long enough to pass through the panel frame and into the post securely.
While our pressure-treated panels offer initial protection, we recommend applying a wood stain or preservative every couple of years. This helps to maintain the color, improve water resistance, and extend the overall lifespan of the wood.
Yes, all our trellis panels are supplied as a single, ready-made panel.
