Ready to upgrade your garden entrance? Finding the right timber gate involves more than just picking a style. From measuring the gap correctly to choosing the right latch, we’ve sorted the essentials for you. Check out these FAQs to get your gate hung right the first time.
We supply garden gates in various shapes and construction styles. All of our timber gates are available in pre-treated green or brown timber to match your fence panels and fence posts. These include closeboard gates, tongue & groove gates, picket gates, arch top gates and flat top gates.
All our garden gates are 90cm wide, with options for gate heights depending on style. Arch top gates are highest in the middle, ranging from 1.05m (3’5”) to 1.95m (6’5’’). Flat Top Gates range from 0.9m (2’11’’) to 1.8m (5’10’’) Decorative gates vary in height depending on style, please see the product page for accurate sizing.
We don’t include fittings & hardware with the gates to let customers choose colours and styles. To order gate hinges, bolts and other gate hardware, view Gate Accessories.
For a garden gate, you want a lightweight but sturdy material. This is why timber gates are so popular – they are light enough to move easily and can be painted many times to match your tastes. They are also sturdy enough to withstand frequent movement, which can be a problem for composites.
To get the right size garden gate, measure the height of your fence panels when installed. The gate should not extend beyond the top of the fence, unless it has an arch.
